Hello World

This post, which will be short, is brought to you from my cellphone. I know some of us can write posts mobiley but I’m not good at it yet especially when there’s pictures involved. Anyway, for the last couple of days, I’ve had some internet issues. You see, we pay for a high speed in our area. In order for our ISP to get us this high speed is by running two lines to our house. In technical terms, that means we have 2 broadband lines instead of just 1. One of our lines was out. This means our normal speed wasn’t acheiveable because we’re only running on one line instead of our bonded pair. On top of that, our internet was regularly disconnecting. I could be in the middle of Netflix or just something simple like browsing the web and I’d get page errors.

I hate calling service providers sometimes because they try to walk you through all these steps you’ve already tried before giving in and sending a tech. I get that cause I’m sure it’s cheaper that way. I kept it short and said, “hey, I pay for this speed and I haven’t been getting it. This is a problem.” The customer rep was funny because he suggested that sometimes it’s electromagnetic waves from Christmas lights could interfere. I’ve never heard anything like that before and there was also the fact that nobody in my street has Christmas lights (they’re all old). He sent a tech for today though. Took 3 hours but there’s definitely a problem with our outside wires that needs to be fixed.

Anyway, this is my way if updating you all. I hope you all had a nice holiday and an upcoming happy new year! I still hope to make an endangered post tomorrow so we’ll see. If there are any typos, I apologise. Autocorrect is the devil.

  1. Hope you’re up and running soon. I know this pain it happens every time the weather changes or a squirrel decides to chew our wires(Which happens a lot). I suggested to the tech to tell them to stop making the wires taste good and he looked at me like I was insane. I thought it was funny.

    1. LOL I think it’s funny! I wonder if that’s what’s going on with our wires. Need some bitter apple spray on those hahaha. Thanks, Cim. I still keep up with your stories. I can’t not! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. Such a pain! We run into the same issues with Verizon, except it’s every month. We switched to Verizon earlier in the year when they were running their unlimited internet special. Basically, even when you were dialed down after 15G or so, you would always have 3G. They changed the terms not long after everyone switched which in my book should be against the law. It’s worse than dial up once you use 20G. Not right. IMO, nobody should be using dial speeds anymore with our technology.

I hope yours is fixed soon. It’s no fun dealing with these types of tech issues. It’s a wake-up call for myself in that I’m way to dependent on this stuff. Haha, scary! ๐Ÿ˜‰โค

    1. That’s ridiculous. I’m with ATT and have been for years so I get really grumpy when I’m paying for a speed and not getting it. (I run speed tests all the time). I also feel like they should be able to tell a line is down without me having to call them but I guess that’s too much to ask, lol. Thank goodness for data plans on cellphones and seniority with a company. They treat us well even if I have to go through 5 reps to get what I want (I can be a terror๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚)

Thanks for understanding! I hope you had a wonderful holiday and I’m sure we’ll talk soon ๐Ÿ˜Š

  3. hahahaha autocorrect is the devil ๐Ÿ˜‚ – but there were no typos so yay! And I’m sorry to hear all about this. I just hate having to phone for any kind of tech problems and you just get a very bored operator saying “have you turned it on and off again? have you pressed the reset button?” sighs Yes, of course I turned it off and on (and I also kicked it several times for good measure, but I’m not telling them that ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) Anyway, getting a bit carried away- I feel your pain and I hope it gets fixed really soon!! Hope your enjoying the holidays anyway!

  4. I know all to well how it feels to be without internet. Our internet randomly cuts off on us frequently for no apparent reason usually it comes back on within a few minutes but sometimes it takes days. You donโ€™t realize how dependent you are on it until you have to go without it. I hope yours is fixed soon!

  5. I hope it’s all fixed now. I’d probably die when if I heard your normal speed.

It took years to get what they call high speed internet here. Just a few months ago I was notified that it was available. Yay, no more dish with a cap on usuage! I signed up and I now have DSL. You read that right. D.S.L 7mbps down, baby! Someone kill me now.
