Testing, Testing!

Hello wonderful people.

I missed you all the last two days of not posting. The reason I have been so silent, assuming you have not checked my twitter feed, is because I decided to move my site over to where you all host. I don’t know if you know, but there is a wordpress.com and a wordpress.org. When you sign up for wordpress.com, your site is hosted through wordpress.com. I did it differently last year. I signed up with Bluehost to host and wordpress.org is the application outside (third party) host servers use.

This year I wanted to be different. I decided to migrate my blog over to .com to make it easier for you all to comment if you want to. Before it was a two click process to view and read my posts from the Reader. I know it was difficult for a few of my friends to do it unless they were on their computers. Now this way, you should be able to view whole posts right in the reader and comment if you’d like without taking extra click steps.

Now if you were to visit some previous posts, you might see some broken images. When I did a general sweep, I only saw it mostly with older Facebook Friday posts. However, if you go browsing and see something messed up, let me know so I can try and fix it depending on how old it is. Other than that, it should work smoothly. If you have some problems though, don’t hesitate to let me know so I can let the Happiness Engineers over here know!

Tomorrow I will be doing Endangered Thursdays but I just wanted to make a test post to get a feel for this side of things. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

  1. Welcome to .com! I have had a lot of fun playing with this platform and getting my blog set up to the way I like. I don’t know what the other platforms or host servers are like, I’ve heard a lot of complaints, but I do know WP.com and I like how user friendly it is. Can’t wait to read your posts and I always look forward to E.T. πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks Cim! Yes, I tried Bluehost bit man over a year there was a lot of connection issues and errors and I’d asked them to be explained and they couldn’t be. I definitely got over it quickly and since the plan ended next month, I made a decision, haha. I hope you like tomorrow’s post! It’ll be something new for sure. 😁

        1. You were right! See? I have some getting used to cause I don’t see any type of notification that I have pending comments that went to spam. Silly dashboard. Akismet can be harsh. I know last year I got blocked for commenting too much!

          1. It is the one thing that I do find annoying. I make it a habit to check that particular folder every day, most of it is junk but once in a while a good blogger gets exiled πŸ˜‰

            1. See when I was on wordpress.org, it showed right in the dashboard if I had spam comments when I logged in. Definitely something I’ll have to get used to.

    1. Lmao. I love you Linda. You make me laugh all the time! I still have a few tweaks I’m working on with the engineers like getting my posts to show fully in the Reader but the process, so far, seems to have gone smoothly enough.

      1. That’s great! I’m not sure why it’s so difficult to leave comments on pages hosted elsewhere, but I HATE having to leave an email address and my mother’s maiden name in order to leave a comment! Ok, maybe it’s not THAT bad, but still…

        1. .COMments… that’s funny and true! There are even some sites where I can’t comment as myself, no matter what I do and have to leave anonymous comments (with my name in the text).

          1. Isn’t it crazy? Ah well, we won’t have any problem with Nel…at least not about her blog. I mean other things are always up for debate. πŸ˜‰ Shhh…don’t tell her I said that. She’s a turtle person and you know how they are! πŸ˜‰

  2. Phew!! Really relieved cos I went on late yesterday and worried!! (although I assumed it might be something technical) And this is so exciting cos I use my phone a lot to reply to comments and read blog posts πŸ˜€ And it looks great to me!! πŸ˜€

    1. Thanks!! One or two more bugs to work out especially in regards to making it mobile friendly and then I *should* be good to go. The engineers have been super helpful and patient of my millions of questions lol. I can definitely say I don’t think I’ll be moving it ever again haha

  3. Congrats on the successful move! I just moved to my own domain and am editing via WP but lost all my followers in the process and don’t know how to reconnect to the reader. Such a huge learning curve with technology when we try to do bigger and better things. I’m impressed you made a smooth move – two weeks in and I’m still on the fence here!

    1. Aaah. The key to not losing your followers was through the jetpack plugin. You had to contact WordPress directly and tell them and they move your followers and your stats in either direction. Good luck with your own domain and feel free to ask questions. I have a year’s worth. Of experience there haha

    1. Yeah and hopefully you won’t go to my spam Everytime you comment! Cause I noticed that everytime you left me a comment I had to approve it but it should have only been the first time, lol.
