Facebook Friday 10/13/17

Hey, Hey! It’s Facebook Friday!! It’s also Friday the 13th so don’t go walking under ladders or breaking mirrors or you’ll get 7 years bad luck! I walked under a tow motor though.. hmm does that count??

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.[...]

Rumis #1

My post is so late! Aaaaah! Forgive me!

I have a feeling there will be a lot of these posts where I start to want to talk about something and then think of something else that would make a better post but it’s a jumbled assortment of thoughts. We’ll call this series, that will be as random as my mind, rumis as in ruminations of Nel.[...]

Modern Movie Adaptations of Classic Stories

I was speaking to my Swaziland bestie the other day about music with great lyrics. That lead me to talk about a song off one of my favorite movie soundtracks and got me thinking about modern movie adaptions of classics. For those who don’t know what I mean when I say modern movie adaptations, it means stories created by such authors like William Shakespeare or even such tales like Cinderella, are revamped to be set in the 20th century instead of the teenth-century they were written in. So instead of horse and buggys, there are cars and planes adapted to fit the story. It’s still related to the story’s overall plot and the endings but it’s also a little bit different. I actually think it’s quite brilliant when writers and directors do this but anyway, here are a few of my favorites:[...]

Going through my feed this week, I did not share a meme, however, my coworker tagged me in one with the comment: “Thank goodness for Chanel. She alone is changing those stats.”[...]

Tales of an Insect

***Warning! This story contains cursing because I curse a lot in real life especially when unexpected things I’m not prepared for occur***

I’m traumatized.

No, seriously. I try to be a good girl and eat my serving of dark leafy greens but CLEARLY, there’s a reason I’m carnivorous and here’s the story detailing why:[...]

HP Classic

I had a great idea for a post this morning but I need more time than I have right now to really write it up into something brilliant. Instead, because it is Monday and I have to post something, here’s a throwback video that always makes me smile and even laugh a bit especially in times of sadness like the world has been consistently experiencing lately. Please take two minutes and enjoy Harry Potter Puppet Pals and I’m sorrynotsorry if this gets stuck in your head today. 😉 (P.S. If you’ve seen this already, watch it again because you need it!)[...]

Good morning my lovelies! Or evening depending on where you are in the world. It’s starting to feel like Fall here in Northeast Ohio. Our 90° did a 360 and now it’s a freezing 60°! Well not freezing but when you go from hot to cool really fast, it’s a bit of a shock.[...]

Food Discovery

I was searching RT for a post I made a while ago about types of food that we eat together that some may find weird. However, there are 241 posts on this blog and searching for the word “food” brought up a ton of posts including every Endangered post I’ve written (which are just not related to human food). So failing that, I just decided to start the post anyway. If you go searching for it, and find it, you’re a rock star![...]

Fall

For once I’m writing a post in advanced! I felt like I should get it down today because I’ll most likely forget what I wanted to say by morning.

So it’s fall in the northern hemisphere. Also known as Autumn depending on who you ask. That means several things:

  • Trees shedding leaves
  • Pumpkin everything
  • Cooler weather

Going in that order, first, I hate that the trees shed their leaves. I LOVE the color changes. They are very beautiful but I HATE raking. When you switch from living in an apartment, where you weren’t responsible for yard work, to living in a house with FOUR (kill me) ginormous oaks and whatever that tree is that drops the helicopter seeds, you truly begin to hate Fall. We’ll have dead leaves in our yard from now until Spring, no joke. All the trees (of course) are not on the same nature clock and drop their leaves at all different times. (That would make our life way too easy eh?)[...]

Guess what?! It’s the first day of Autumn in the northern hemisphere today! Goodbye Summer (though you wouldn’t be able to tell currently with our 90 degrees (F) days we’ve been having this week). The leaves are starting to change colors though and that’s the main sign that matters![...]
