Excitement

I’m so excited!! This week is going to be so fantastic! I have a story I really want to share but I can’t until at least Wednesday. Make sure you check back in two days. Today, what I’m really excited about is that there is going to be a total solar eclipse! I’m lucky enough to live in the United States which has a path of totality mapped out. I’m also quite excited to be in a state that’s close to said path of totality. It will only be a partial solar eclipse but it’s 80% coverage and that’s still something to be excited about considering I don’t remember ever seeing one in my life![...]

Hey, hey! It’s Facebook Friday!

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

There was a lot of anger and sadness surrounding social media this week. I made it a point to share things guaranteed to bring a smile to my friends faces in the hopes that they would take a few moments and not dwell on the hatred that’s occurring in the world. Two of the memes I shared were bookish themed this week. One is my dream job and the other, I’d just like to blow it up poster size on my wall or turn it into a giant blanket so I can point to the number when it applies to the situation:[...]

Duck Song

I’m pretty much drawing a blank today. All I’m trying to not think about is how the world is turning into one big ball of hate and depression from events in America to Sierra Leone. So, instead of talking about those things, and making it worse (cause my opinions aren’t nice), I’m going to share this video that makes me laugh like a maniac because laughter is the best medicine.[...]

Skills Set

I was thinking about what I wanted to write about today and I keep thinking about my skills sets. My husband and I watched this episode of Black Mirror last night. The premise of the episode was that all humans are rated on a five star scale; kind of like when you leave a restaurant or book review. Each person you encountered was rated based on the experience you had with them. The higher your rating the more you could get in life. For example, the main character was looking to move into this prestigious housing complex but in order to pay a discounted price, her star rating had to be 4.5 and above. At the time, her rating was only a 4.2 so she would go around the neighborhood interacting in a friendly way with people in order to get a boost in her ratings. She would also post happy go lucky pictures on her feed to get people to give her more 5 star ratings.[...]

Eye Candy

I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to write about today but thanks to the lovely Peela, I got some inspiration in a round about way during our conversation. You can probably get a little bit of an idea where this post is going based off the title but here we go.

Do you ever watch a show purely based on who’s in it, specifically who’s hot that’s in it? Or do you start watching a show and even if it’s terribad, you continue to watch it because of the eye candy?[...]

Hey, hey! It’s Facebook Friday!

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

This week I shared a cool bookcase quilt picture I saw on someone else’s page with the status asking if anyone was good at quilting because I need this. I’ve also been part of this Facebook event since Monday. It’s for an anthology that was just released on the 8th called Dominion Rising featuring 23 sci-fi/fantasy novels by 23 authors for $0.99. To celebrate, the authors have been doing giveaways on Facebook and getting the audience participating by having us posts GIFs to their questions. The one I responded to yesterday got a lot of likes so I decided to share it with you all. The question was to post your favorite geeky/nerdy sci-fi/fantasy meme. I’m a HUGE¬†Firefly fan so my meme was related to that. If you’ve never seen¬†Firefly, you should check it out. It only had one season of 19 amazing episodes with quite an awesome, adventurous space crew.[...]

Try Before You… Wait What?

I try to take a lunch to work every day. Usually it doesn’t happen because I’m the type who likes to sleep as long as possible before getting out of bed. I have the brush teeth, shower, get dressed routine down in 20 minutes before I have to be out the door to get to work on time. Most days, unless some leftovers are packed form the night before, I’m getting lunch from somewhere.

I work in a very small town so my lunch choices are, unfortunately, very limited. I can go to Panera but we ate it so much at my last job that I don’t want it anymore plus I hate paying $10 for a sandwich. There’s also Subway which I haven’t had in literal years so don’t feel the need to start now and another sub place called Jersey Mike’s. I could go the pizza route but I can eat one slice or two of pizza and then I’m done with pizza for a few months. I could get Mediterranean or Chinese food but that requires me to drive further than I wish.[...]

Ode To This Tree

I love nature. I really do. I love animals and their habitats and humans are evil for destroying them and all that. You all know I love all things nature??

So believe me when I say it breaks my heart that one of these days, this tree is coming down.

Our house was built in 1950. You can tell the whole block used to be a forest because there are trees and tree stumps everywhere. In our yard alone, there are 4 of these beauties. I love trees, I really do. They bring all kinds of wholesome, clean oxygen to our air thanks to all that photosynthesizing they do. They also bring shade from the burning sun. Our house doesn’t have air conditioning (yet) but thanks to these trees, the house stays relatively cool because of the wonderful canopy cover.[...]

By Popular Request/Demand

As you all know, I have an addiction. I freely admit that this addiction will never die and it’s the best kind of addiction one could have. My name is Nel and I’m a bookaholic. That’s right. I live to read. I often stay up way past my bedtime to read. I take my reading responsibility very seriously to the point where I’ve decided not to post on the weekends because I want to focus on catching up on my Goodreads challenge. I’ve committed to reading 100 books this year which is 17 more than I read last year and, because I love torture, I’ve made it so that I can only read books I’ve never read before in an attempt to discover new authors. I’m dedicated![...]

Hey, hey! It’s Facebook Friday!

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

For once, I don’t have a bookish meme to share but I thought this was still quite hilarious. If you don’t get it right away, that’s okay, we can laugh about it later while I explain it:[...]
