Facebook Friday 10/6/17

Hey, Hey! It’s Facebook Friday!!

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

Going through my feed this week, I did not share a meme, however, my coworker tagged me in one with the comment: “Thank goodness for Chanel. She alone is changing those stats.”

Now to give you a bit of back story.. Last Friday I went to a book sale with one of my closest friends because she knows how much I love book sales (apparently she’s learning a lot from my bookish habits). This sale happened to be a library sale and it happened to be bag day. Bag day at a library sale is exactly what it sounds like. You pay a flat price for a bag, usually between $1-$5 and you fill the bag with however many books you can fit in it. It’s super awesome. Anyway, I go to quite a few throughout the year and one bag sale I went to I told John, my favorite old man in the plant, that I’d get him a book. At first he was adamant that I not do so and he wouldn’t say why. I just kept saying, it’s fine. I’ll grab you a fun one.

He finally confessed to me that he can’t read well. He’s 60 years oldΒ and he seemed to have felt a little self conscious about that. But I didn’t bat an eyelash, and told him that it was okay and that I would just get him a picture book. Well, he still told me no. I went to the sale and got a ton of books for myself and my coworker but didn’t get a book for him. I go to work the next day and he asks me if I got him a book and I told him that I didn’t because he was so adamant against it. He told me he thought I would surprise him and do it anyway so I told him next time, it was a done deal. The sale I went to last Friday, I got him a really cool picture book that talked about the Earth and it’s animals and it even had a cat in it, which is is favorite! Long story, I know. But this, I believe, is what spurred my coworker to tag me in this meme.

Next, I shared 3 videos on Facebook this week. I think I’m going to share two of them since I did not share a picture of my own and they are both pretty fun in my opinion.

The first video made me smile huge because this woman is just fantastic in her interaction with this hot cop:

The second video I shared as well because I have a weakness for watching men dance and when you put a bunch of them together doing a line dance I’ve never seen before, creating their own variations in between, and come from a bunch of different backgrounds, I just become a super fan! Plus who doesn’t love to dance and smile at the same time?!

That’s it for Facebook Friday! I hope I’ve brought a smile to all your beautiful faces today. Did you see anything interesting in your social media this week? Let me know in the comments below and have a great weekend everyone!

  1. It’s Friday already! Oh my gosh. Loved everything about this post. The reading facts shocked me. The story about your co-worker and the book sale made me get a little emotional. Touching and sweet. 😒

There’s no place I’d rather be than at a library sale with $1 bag days. One of our local libraries built a sale room and it’s a dollar a bag all year round! It’s the best. πŸ™‚

Loved the videos too, Nel. I admire Facebook Fridays and can’t wait for your next. ❀ Thanks so much for sharing all of this.

    • Dollar bag days all year round???? Oh my goodness. That’s truly heaven and if I ever come and visit you, that’s will definitely be one of my stops!
Awww. Yeah he’s like my best buddy this guy. Definitely glad I’ve met him and continue to learn more from him each day.
I’m so glad you enjoy this series! It’s always a surprise every week, even for me πŸ™‚

        • Disney!!! My VHS collection is almost complete. I’ll check my spreadsheet and email you 😊.You are so awesome to me! 😍

  2. I loved your book story! It always amazes me when I talk to people how few people read. So sad really.

Those videos totally made my day, thank you for sharing! 😁

    • You are very welcome! 😁 I agree. It’s quite amazing but hey ppl like us can convince people how great reading really can be!

  3. Aww that story about your co-worker is so sweet- it was so great that you ended up getting him a book this time round! Gosh I want a bag day sale so much- wish that was a thing over here! Those men dancing look like they’re having a helluva good time!! πŸ˜€

    • Yeah. He’s my work buddy. I love that old dude and I generally avoid old people. No bag days at all?? Do they have library sales in general?? And yes, don’t they??? I was all smiles watching it. 😁

      • Aww! haha no- they have library sales, but they’re much less exciting- just reduced books that they no longer want (usually cos they’re not as good or no one reads them anymore) YES! Me too!! 😁

  4. The story of illiteracy is sad, but you brought a bright spot to someone and that is joyous. Another joyous thing is the vid of those guys just going for it. Go guys GO!!! β€οΈπŸ’•β€οΈπŸ’•β€οΈ

    • Yes! I just love watching me dance in general. Haha. Also yes, John needs all the bright spots he can get cause he’s a big ole grumps most days!
