Reactionary Tales

Facebook Fridays 7/14/17

TGIF!

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

First up, two bookish memes that were shared to me. The second one was particularly hilarious because I was talking to my mother on the phone when she read it and she thought I was posting dirty things on Facebook and was ready to give me the riot act even though I’m a grown woman.

Bonus screen capture. I don’t usually buy magazines, but I plan to buy this one…

I don’t think I’ve mentioned it on here yet but I love musicals. That probably doesn’t come as a surprise since I’m a ginormous Disney nerd and they’re nothing but musicals but I love the classics such as Sound of Music, Oklahoma and Phantom of the Opera. My cousin shared a “HAVE YOU SEEN THIS” type of post with a video link attached. It’s an oldie but a goodie. Let me tell you, I was not prepared. It’s former Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger singing the female part of The Phantom of the Opera. For a pop singer, she blew me away but I’ve always thought she was underrated. Check it out!

The other cool link that was shared to me was pretty spectacular. It’s an article about an artist named Marta Minujin from Argentina who created a replica of the Greek Parthenon using 100,000 copies of banned books. Check out the article and the rest of the pictures including the one I got below, here.

Last but not least, I shared some photos from the Lavender festival I went to.

Cool stuff right?? Did you see anything cool or share anything cool on Facebook or another social media platform this week? Let me know in the comments below and feel free to link me to them!

OMG, your mom’s reaction toward ‘I touch my shelf’ post is just hilarious and the replica of the Greek Parthenon is stunningly beautiful!! It must be magnificent to actually see it!

Loool! I know right! And yes! I want to see it one day. Pretty mind boggling to me that books can be banned.

And I forgot to mention, how a book seemingly about Mickey Mouse could have been banned???!! i could see ‘1984’ and ‘Fahrenheit 451’ could have been banned because of the topic they dealt with (dystopian element?) and as for The Da Vinci Code for the controversy surrounding Christianity… but my goodness. Simply mind-boggling as you put it!

Hahaha! You noticed the same thing I did! I was like Mickey Mouse?? Really?? I looked it up and I guess one passage had dancing skeletons and the Danes thought it was too macabre. That’s just one case out of many!

Oh, I see! But man, you’ll never know on what reason books can be banned… wow.

Haha same! My friend commented and was like “but I know you loan your books to people” and I was like “that’s cause I buy duplicates. one for me and one for other people to mess up!”
Yes! I’m always so surprised when I discover a singer who strictly sings one genre can impress you buy singing a different one.

You took me on a roller coaster of emotions from uproarious laughter to swooning to anger to calm. It’s a good thing you put the lavender last! Great post, as always!

If she will let you watch her Netflix, you MUST watch Luther. Idris Elba plays the main character and he’s so fantastic and beautiful.

Thats awesome! Sometimes I feel like my phone isn’t capable enough to format posts when I have pictures to add but the app is overall pretty good. 🙂

Awesome! I understand that. My best friend and I are the same way. Sisters from another mister. I let her use my Netflix account all the time. 🙂
