Fall

For once I’m writing a post in advanced! I felt like I should get it down today because I’ll most likely forget what I wanted to say by morning.

So it’s fall in the northern hemisphere. Also known as Autumn depending on who you ask. That means several things:

  • Trees shedding leaves
  • Pumpkin everything
  • Cooler weather

Going in that order, first, I hate that the trees shed their leaves. I LOVE the color changes. They are very beautiful but I HATE raking. When you switch from living in an apartment, where you weren’t responsible for yard work, to living in a house with FOUR (kill me) ginormous oaks and whatever that tree is that drops the helicopter seeds, you truly begin to hate Fall. We’ll have dead leaves in our yard from now until Spring, no joke. All the trees (of course) are not on the same nature clock and drop their leaves at all different times. (That would make our life way too easy eh?)

Second, pumpkin everything and I mean everything. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE pumpkin rolls and those little pumpkin shaped candy corns and even pumpkin pie but the problem with me is that everything is pumpkin themed from August til Christmas. I see pumpkins EVERYWHERE and I’m already over seeing or hearing about 15 thousand advertisements about pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks. There’s more to Autumn than pumpkins people!

Third, it’s supposed to be COOLER weather not HOTTER weather. I just about died when I walked outside today because it’s 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius) in Ohio right now. Why the hell is it so hot in September??? If it keeps up at this rate, we won’t have trick or treaters at our door because they’ll get heat stroke from wearing their costumes walking 2 blocks. Maybe pass out water bottles instead of candy? It would be slightly more healthier…. (Heat makes me crazy can you tell?)

There is just one thing though that I ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY look forward to about Fall:

FALL TV SHOWS!!!!

Can I just tell you how excited I am about Grey’s Anatomy returning THIS THURSDAY?? Yes, you heard me right. And it’s a 2 hour season premiere! I was one of those people that watched ER back in the day and adored that show and didn’t think any hospital show could ever replace it. I literally refused to watch any of Grey’s Anatomy for about 6 seasons I think because I was so anti-any other hospital type drama.

But then Netflix (my second obsession besides books) came along.

And then you get bored one day and decide to start a long show that you could do while multitasking while cleaning or background noise while reading and you think to yourself, “Cool, i don’t really have to pay that much attention. I can focus on my tasks, etc.” Except…..

I GOT SO HOOKED!

I mean my God. This is one show that hits every point on my emotional spectrum; even the cheesy episodes! And now season 14 (THATS RIGHT! FOURTEEN YEARS!) is about to air and there are only about 4 characters of the original cast who have been there since the beginning and I’m just so, freaking excited! (TWO WHOLE, WONDERFUL PREMIERE HOURS).

There are other fall shows of course and I can make a list but, guys, it’s all about Grey’s Anatomy sorry.

(P.S. I’m also looking forward to Scandal since this is the final season. Just wanted to throw that out there.)

What are your thoughts about the fall season? Anything you look forward to or don’t look forward to that I didn’t mention? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I’ve never watched Grey’s Anatomy! I need to binge it. When I was in college, I had this friend that was gaga for it. Literally!

I’m already seeing Christmas stuff out! On Saturday, one of my favorite PBS shows was highlighting Christmas Decor. I’m like, “Where is the fall decor episode?” LOL <3

Great post, Nel! Have a happy week! <3

    • Oh gosh. I think once you start, if you ever start, you won’t be able to stop even if you want to stop. Not to mention there’s 6 seasons of Private Practice in there as well, haha.
I have been lucky not to see Christmas stuff yet but people seem to forget about Thanksgiving which is my favorite holiday cause I love food!

You have a happy week as well Mischenko!

  2. We’ve had hotter weather since fall officially started than we did in the summer! I think it’s funny that a lot of people don’t realize that pumpkin spice is just the spice used in pumpkin pie and has nothing to do with actual pumpkins when it’s in a latte or muffin. I don’t mind the spices but I’m not going to run out and gorge on it either. (PS I saw Christmas stuff back in August… that makes me want to rant)

    • Haha! You are just a wealth of random information! I didn’t know that about pumpkin. I don’t mind the spices either but yeah people take it over the top sometimes.
I’ve been seeing countdowns to Christmas since the beginning of August and I’m sitting here like why do people want the year to go by so fast??

  3. 90 degrees today here in Upstate NY Nel…….with???? I don’t watch Grey’s in real time but I have been watching on Netflix. I am only on season five so………I have a long long way to go…….

    • You definitely have a ways to go, not to mention the spin off series in between there, Private Practice! Thank goodness for Netflix though right? Can watch at your own pace!
I hope it starts to cool down on the east coast soon! 90 is just so unseasonable!

  4. Well you know me. … I love fall and have already have the house decorated for a month :). I enjoy the holidays and seasons so very much. I will hold off decorating for christmas for as long as I can (don’t hold it against me). I watched greys anatomy when it first started then got bored with it (I worked in a hospital for 12 years) but can understand how people get hooked! πŸ™‚

  5. I love fall! πŸ‚πŸπŸ‚ I just wish it would cool down too! It was almost 90 here in NC yesterday too, but it will finally be 79 on Friday! Yay! I can’t wait for Grey’s!!! 😍😍😍 I’ve not missed an episode since it started or Private Practice (which I miss!). I’m so anxious to see what’s going to happen!! And I love Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder, so Thurs is my favorite tv night lol. Except Outlander…πŸ’œπŸ’—πŸ’œ But I hope Grey’s is on for a while. I’ll cry when it goes off the air. Oh, and I admit that I’m guilty of already having a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks lol. I was all like woohoo pumpkin spice hahaha. It wasn’t as great as last year’s though. Idk! But I’m so excited for Halloween! I’m skipping decorating for fall and going straight for Halloween πŸŽƒ Happy Fall..belated anyway, lol πŸ‚πŸπŸ‚πŸŽƒ

    • Yes! Another Shonda lover! I’m probably gonna write a slightly spoilery review next week cause let’s face it, if anyone is ever gonna watch this show, they’ll forget what happened in Season 14 by the time they catch up. Halloween is great! Are you wearing costumes this year? Happy belated Fall right back haha.

      • Yes, I love Shonda!! I hope I get to watch it Thurs night. Grey’s just has to come on at 8 now, and that’s when I’m putting Kayley to bed! I’m going to set my dvr, but it’s saying it can’t record anything and that it’s empty but I know it was 52% full on Sunday. So I don’t know what is wrong…ugh! I still can’t believe how many people don’t watch Grey’s. I thought everyone did lol! Yes, I’m dressing up!! I always do! And my house will be all decorated outside unless hubby decides he’s not doing it this year, but then I’ll nag him to death hahaha. I’d rather decorate for Halloween than anything! I’m probably going to be a cat since that’s what Kayley wants to be. πŸ±πŸŽƒπŸ±

  6. hahaha I totally relate to what you mean about Autumn having it’s upsides and downsides. That’s a pain about the raking! I live in a flat, so I don’t have that right now, but I do find that when things change for me something like the leaves changing and falling can go from “yay!” to “gah” all too easily (a bit like when I left school and snow days went from “yay it’s gonna be harder to get to school!” to “gah it’s gonna be harder to get to work/uni/anywhere” πŸ˜‰ ) And yeah, I do love pumpkin, but by the end of the season, I’m pumpkined out πŸ˜‰

  7. I am so behind with Grey’s Anatomy omg… STILL NOT OVER THE DEREK DEATH, I am traumatized and will need to drink some tea and ponder at my over-attachment to TV characters. Nice post, by the way! πŸ˜€

    • Hahaha yes, Shonda knows how to break our hearts in the death department real good! It took me a while just to get over George’s death! I hope this motivates you to catch up soon! πŸ˜‰
