Facebook Friday 8/4/17

Hey, hey! It’s Facebook Friday!

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

For once, I don’t have a bookish meme to share but I thought this was still quite hilarious. If you don’t get it right away, that’s okay, we can laugh about it later while I explain it:

Next we have the video. You all should know by now how much I have this obsession/fantasy love affair with Idris Elba in my mind. Today, his movie The Dark Tower came out today. I must confess that I’ve never read this book before and honestly, if Idris Elba wasn’t in it, I may or may not have contemplated seeing it. Anyway, I shared this video to my page of Idris Elba on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. It’s pretty funny! They play this game where they send an English song through Google Translate and then translate it back to English and sing those lyrics. Check it out (plus bask in Elba’s voice..):

Last but not least, I shared two photos on Facebook this week. The first one was my book sale haul. On Wednesday, I dragged my friend to this library sale because we went last year and it was spectacular! We were in for such a surprise. Turns out it was bag day! Bag day means you buy a bag and fill it with as many books as possible and pay a flat fee. At this sale, the bags were $1! I was in heaven, truly. Then the lady blew my mind when she told me it was buy one bag get one free. I walked into this sale with $30 and walked out with 2 bags of books and $29:

The second picture I shared was an old one. For those that don’t have Facebook, it has this application called Facebook Memories that shares photos with you that you took years ago and allows you to share them with your friends again if you’d like. My Facebook memory was a big sunflower picture that I took 7 years ago. I shared it with my friends and family because 7 years ago I was in college and the picture was taken with my cellphone. I was at one of my work study jobs at my college’s Field Station. A group of us planted these sunflowers and a vegetable garden and I remember being so excited watching them grow. This sunflower was taller than me and i’m 5’7″! Back then I had a small, 4 inch LG phone that had a sliding qwerty keyboard. I remember fighting the smartphone wave for so long! I thought smartphones were dumb and too expensive. I thought my phone was the best phone with my free calls on nights and weekends after 9 pm. Man have the times change.

So let’s get to it!

There weren’t any crazy funny memes this week but I did come across and share a picture of a book fountain that I was happy to find out, is located in my home state of Ohio. I’ve added to my bucket list for the next time I find myself driving South because it’s definitely something I have to see.

Next up, I saw this video and I’ll admit I may have stopped an drooled a bit because I mean… hot guy.. But what really amazed me was his exercise routine where his workout partner was his dog! I mean talk about friendship fitness!

And finally, I shared a photo of my cat being the picture of what I wish my life could be on the couch. I was showing the husband all your wonderful comments on the tea post and she was just not impressed.

How about you?? Did you see anything cool in your social medias this week?? Let me know in the comments below and feel free to share me links!

Hey, hey! It’s Facebook Friday!

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

So let’s get to it!

This past week has been a slow one. I didn’t even get to be on Facebook as much as I normally am because of surprise party shenanigans and hosting my mother in my home for a week (post about that coming soon). However, I did get to share this meme yesterday and it was totally relatable these past two days:

I did a buddy read with my girl Lana that we ended up putting on the DNF shelf a few days ago and instead we started Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews and I’ve had the above syndrome for 2 days. It consists of me going to bed at 12am (or later) knowing I have to wake up at 6am for work. The book is so addicting! I’ll probably finish it tonight and possibly review it here because it’s so amazing. Besides, it’s Friday! I have all weekend to sleep!

Next up: the video. I encourage you to please watch it all the way through! There’s a show called Little Big Shots and Steve Harvey is the host. I don’t actually watch these things on TV cause I don’t have cable or anything like that but occasionally I’ll watch a video that pops up in my feed. This one features two grandmas. One is 103 and the other one 98. They have been best friends since they were children! I have to warn you that they curse a little bit but if you don’t chuckle or even crack a smile after watching these two then you’re not human:

They are so adorable! I hope I live to be their age and have my best friend I can banter with just like them! ♥♥

Lastly, I didn’t share any photos to Facebook but here’s one of me trying to explain to my grandma where she’s supposed to look when you take a selfie:

I don’t make it a habit of taking selfies but my grandma wanted one. She turned 75 on Monday. Can you tell I’m pointing to the camera circle? She wanted to know where to look and I was pointing to the camera circle while telling her to just look straight ahead and of course I snapped a picture of that. She now knows how to continue to be “hip” with her new smartphone.

That’s all for today! Did you see anything fun or interesting on social media this week? Let me know in the comments below!

TGIF!

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

First up, two bookish memes that were shared to me. The second one was particularly hilarious because I was talking to my mother on the phone when she read it and she thought I was posting dirty things on Facebook and was ready to give me the riot act even though I’m a grown woman.

Bonus screen capture. I don’t usually buy magazines, but I plan to buy this one…

I don’t think I’ve mentioned it on here yet but I love musicals. That probably doesn’t come as a surprise since I’m a ginormous Disney nerd and they’re nothing but musicals but I love the classics such as Sound of Music, Oklahoma and Phantom of the Opera. My cousin shared a “HAVE YOU SEEN THIS” type of post with a video link attached. It’s an oldie but a goodie. Let me tell you, I was not prepared. It’s former Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger singing the female part of The Phantom of the Opera. For a pop singer, she blew me away but I’ve always thought she was underrated. Check it out!

The other cool link that was shared to me was pretty spectacular. It’s an article about an artist named Marta Minujin from Argentina who created a replica of the Greek Parthenon using 100,000 copies of banned books. Check out the article and the rest of the pictures including the one I got below, here.

Last but not least, I shared some photos from the Lavender festival I went to.

Cool stuff right?? Did you see anything cool or share anything cool on Facebook or another social media platform this week? Let me know in the comments below and feel free to link me to them!

Hey! Happy Friday! And a cool numerical Friday at at that.

Last week I started this segment called Facebook Fridays which will feature a meme or screen capture that I thought was funny, a video that resonated in some way and a picture I shared. The hope is to get all you lovely readers to smile after reading yesterday’s Endangered post plus its a great way to end the week! As this progresses, I’ll also add links to fellow bloggers who also do cool weekly posts to spread the love and the laughs.

To kick things off, let’s look at some memes. I follow a lot of bookish pages and my friends always tag me whenever they see some fun book related meme.

Definitely applies to me! You don’t even want to know how many books i have right now and how they’re stacked in places in the house.

If you’ve been following me long, you know how much I adore turtles so when I saw this meme not only did I love it but I laughed so hard and showed it to everyone else!

Bahahaha. So amazing.

Next up we have the video. I have this problem of getting sucked in to watching these talent show videos. The caption for this was “He just sang Whitney Houston like you’ve never heard before!” Click bait I know. But I have a weakness for all things Whitney Houston so of course I gave it a listen. If you haven’t heard the goddess version, click here to listen to it first before clicking the video below:

I’ve seen a lot of renditions of Whitney on these shows but man he definitely has an essence of her in his soul. I’ve listen to this about 10+ times and I get all kinds of goosebumps. I wish I had even a smidgen of his talent in my pinky toe!

Last but not least, I shared photos of the park I visited but since today’s word prompt is quill, I’ve decided to re-share the picture of the quill pen my husband and I dabbled with at the car dealership. I think we should go back to these because they’re so cool! You don’t have to apply much pressure at all in order to write with them. The ink pot we had was blue ink and, since we’re amateurs, it got a little bit messy. However, ink comes off very easily with hand sanitizer in case you didn’t know that! If you get it on your clothes, just use hairspray.
