Facebook Friday 4/27/18

Hey, hey! It’s Facebook Friday!

Man what a week. Anyone feel like this was the slowest week ever cause that’s how I was feeling. I worked from home on Monday too and it still felt like forever. I haven’t been very social on social media this week. We’re still in the process of putting our house back together still! My poor turtle is having a fit cause he wants to swim and this 3 inches of water stuff is just not cutting it. I hope to have him back filled up tonight though and all the furniture back in its proper place by the end of the weekend. No more house projects for at least another year or two unless they take place outside in the yard.

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

I did not share any memes this week. I don’t even remember seeing any that stood out so I blame the internet for that this week. I did share a video however to honor Avengers: Infinity War!!! For most, it came out last night but the official release date is today and I can’t wait to go and see it on Sunday! Check out this fun video the stars made on an episode of Jimmy Fallon:

Who’s your favorite Avenger?? Let me know in the comments below!

As for pictures, I didn’t share any on social media so I’m cheating. We let the cats out of their room last night to let them explore the house and they pretty much freaked out. I think they think we moved because they’ve never been in a house that didn’t have carpet on every surface. Isabel (the tan one) was the little explorer cause shes’s pretty fearless. Milliardo however came all the way down, walked through the rooms and then ran back upstairs. I guess he’d rather stay confined for now. Hopefully they’ll warm up this weekend though. Here’s a picture I snapped this morning of them in their room enjoying their carpet square and getting along for now:

That’s all I have this week. Did you see anything interesting in your social medias this week? Are you going to see Avengers: Infinity War this weekend? Let me know in the comments below!

Have a good weekend everyone and I’ll see you Monday!

Facebook Friday 4/20/18

Hey, hey! It’s Facebook Friday and it actually looks like Spring today!

What a week I’ve had this week. Our flooring project started on Monday and man the things you find under carpet. We had no idea there was 2 layers of old 1960’s tile under there. The contractor was worried at first that it might have asbestos but thank goodness that was not the case cause that’s just one financial headache we didn’t need. However, now the project has been extended to tomorrow because that took extra time, as well as the fact that further calculations showed we did not have enough flooring so we had to scramble and get 6 more boxes expedited. Then we got a blizzard on Thursday which just puts anyone in a bad mood considering it’s April. Fun stuff right?

In happier news, I went to the OB yesterday and my midwife told me that so far this is a perfect pregnancy cause she sees 60-90 patients a week and someone always has something in their notes. I don’t have anything so far so crossing my fingers it stays that way even at the actual birth. And then in even happier news, today’s Facebook Friday stuff is sure to make you smile so let’s stop talking about me and get to the fun stuff shall we?

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

I shared a meme this week on Facebook that made me and quite a few other people chuckle:

Image may contain: text

Clever person who came up with this yeah? ๐Ÿ™‚

I also shared an animal video that made my heart absolutely soar watching it:

I know he’s probably in captivity or some type of sanctuary but you can tell his keepers love him to death and treat him very well! โค

Lastly, I didn’t share this picture on Facebook but it did show up as a Facebook memory from 3 years ago. I shared it to Mischenko and her reaction convinced me I should share it with you all too. Back in my animal care days, I worked at a doggy day care called Camp Bow Wow and encountered my first wolf hybrid! Imagine being called up front to take back a Siberian husky mix and encountering this guy:

wolf at DDC

His name is Yogacheetu or something like that and he was absolutely gorgeous but scary at first look! I was nervous but then he turned out to be a big ole sweetie pie. Loved playing with this lab puppy named Ella but let me tell you, when he opened up his mouth and howled — my goodness. Firstly, my whole head could fit in his mouth. Secondly, there is nothing like a wolf’s howl. Absolutely nothing. I mean it makes humans and animals freeze in their tracks with its beautiful eerieness.

That’s it for Facebook Friday. Hope you all had great weeks and even better weekends and I’ll see you Monday!

Own It

I was talking to my amazing, magnificent friend over the weekend as we usually do and we got on the subject of honesty. We discussed it in the form of book reviews but, like I usually do, I went off on a slight tangent about this particular subject and one of the first lessons I plan to teach my child in the future.

When you achieve something great or are rewarded for a job well done, how do you normally feel? You feel amazing; on top of the world. Then you want to tell everyone you know so they can feel wonderful with you. You are owning your greatness in that moment. You earned it, it was well deserved and you want to flaunt it. That’s a natural reaction to a positive experience right?

So why is it that when a person does something wrong, instead of owning their mistake, they blame everything else under the sun? Or, even worse, flip the tables to make it seem like the other party was delusional in their assessment of the situation because there is just no way you could be wrong even though you KNOW (because trust me, you know) that you were part of the wrong or even fully responsible for it?

Speaking from experience, I understand how easily it is to tell a little white lie when you don’t want to feel the wrath of another person. I truly get it, I do. But I learned over time that that literally makes things 1000 times worse because something so small that I could have owned up to in the beginning ends up getting blown out of proportion and multiple parties end up hurt. Then instead of just one person you have to apologize to, there are many and from there, people’s trust meter of you has faltered a bit.

Losing someone’s trust or even confidence in your own ability to take and receive information is one of the worst feelings. I personally own up to everything I say. If someone asks me for an honest opinion about something, they better be prepared to hear an honest answer. I’m not one for sugarcoating especially when I made the mistake. It’s quite easy to say “That was totally my fault, I’m sorry” or “My bad, I messed up or misinterpreted what you said” to avoid a total explosion of unnecessary drama. Now if I didn’t do it or say it, I definitely won’t take the blame.

When I worked as a manager in retail, this concept was something I pretty much drilled into my staff. If you messed up, seriously, it’s okay. Just tell me so we can fix it together and then you’ll know how better to handle the situation the next time. If you lie to me, I will find out so let’s not waste time. Now, is there times when things should be tactfully said? Sure. But that is one reason why I always lead in with something like “I mean no disrespect but…” and then lay it all out. That way the receiver is already prepared for what I’m about to drop on them but I also hope it makes them feel comfortable enough to do the same for me in return because who doesn’t want 100% honesty all the time?

At the end of the day, I know I can’t make people change. Some people are so good at lying or being two faced that that is their natural instinct. It just sucks for the rest of us who have to figure that out further along in a friendship or relationship instead of right up front. The world would truly be a better place if people owned up to all of their judgments instead of just some of them and not only that, be able to take information, even if it’s information they don’t like, gracefully. That’s the very definition of being an adult wouldn’t you say?

I’m quite interested in what you all think on this topic. Let me know in the comments below and feel free to share experiences of your own if you feel comfortable. ๐Ÿ™‚

Facebook Friday 4/6/18

Hey, hey it’s Facebook Friday!

I apologize for not posting the last two days. Wednesday I just had mush for brains. I attribute it to the weather because it snowed the entire day. Spring is looking farther and farther away. So sad especially considering my birthday is next month and I’ve never had snow on my birthday that I can remember so cross your fingers we kick this cold! And then yesterday I spent half the morning at the OB because I had to do an hour long glucose test. For those that don’t know, that’s where they make you drink a small bottle of this orange syrup, sit for an hour, and then draw your blood so they can test your blood sugar. It’s all related to diabetes. I don’t have it but babies in the womb could possibly develop it. I also got a TDAP shot which is tetnaus and whooping cough so now I can’t lift my arm to shoulder height cause it just hurts today. Joy.

On a happier note, I went to Wendy’s yesterday and it was glorious because I haven’t had Wendy’s in weeks since mine burned down and the next closest one is out of my way. Chicken nuggets are the best!

Anyway, this Facebook Friday is going to be a special edition because it’s basically an exclusive to you my lovely WordPress followers. I did not post anything to social media at all this week in the ways of memes, pictures or videos. I didn’t even realize I didn’t until I looked and saw that Friday was coming up and I had nothing from Facebook or Twitter. However, a few followers (looking at you Susan ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) have been wanting to see my pregnant belly. My mother bugs me for a picture every month so I thought today I’d share that picture for you all but in black and white cause I’m a tiny bit self conscious about being so round especially considering this is the biggestย  I’ve ever been in my entire life. But before we get to the picture, I took a quick video clip of baby’s heartbeat while I was at the doctor. You’ll have to turn your volume up to hear it real good but if you ever wondered what it sounds like when you’re sharing a body, that’s not from TV, here you go:

That’s 150 beats per minute. To give you an idea, average adult resting heart rate is only 60-100 beats per minute. Smaller the heart, faster it beats. Larger the heart slower it beats. Fascinating stuff.

Following that, here’s the little body snatcher from the outside. I’m currently 26 weeks and some change. About 2 and a half more months to go:

So there you have it. Life information dump for extra special exclusive Facebook Friday, baby edition. I hope you all had a wonderful week and if you saw anything cool in your social medias this week, let me know in the comments below!

Have a great weekend and see you Monday! ๐Ÿ™‚

Why I Like Social Media

I was debating whether or not I should write about food today but I have a habit of making everyone hungry every single time so I decided to switch it up this morning and talk about social media. Lately there’s been a big hoopla about how evil social media is these days especially in regards to tragic events and the like. I understand how it can be viewed in a negative light. I mean it’s come a long way since MySpace days where it was very basic and all you had to worry about was exes sending you harassing messages or subjecting yourself to chatrooms to meet new people and smartphones weren’t a thing (man I feel old). Regardless of all these factors however, I’m a huge fan of social media and I wanted to outline a few reasons why.

For the record, I only dabble with Facebook, Twitter, WordPress and YouTube.

Diversity

The number one reason I love social media is it’s diversity. There are so many subjects that I never would have even thought of thinking about if it wasn’t for the many people discussing these things. I follow a lot of animal related pages, cooking pages, book related pages, some of my TV shows, etc etc. The list goes on for a while but I feel like my mind is constantly becoming more open and my tastes are constantly evolving. It’s also great to see other people’s reactions to the same thing I’m viewing to get another way at looking at something. Before social media, it was pretty restricted to what you learned in school and what you physically experienced but now you have the added aspect of virtual experience. You also get to meet different types of people from all around the world and learn about their culture and heritage. WordPress is a great example here and blogging in general because you’re exposed to new and interesting content each day.

Communication

Second reason I love social media is the communication aspect. I was reluctant to get Facebook for the longest time because I was so heavily involved with MySpace and thought it was the best. However, as more of my family joined the platform and I saw how clean and sophisticated it looked, I decided to switch. In the beginning I mainly used it to communicate with cousins and family I didn’t often see. Now I can communicate with pretty much anyone. Its honestly a genius resource regardless of all the negativity it receives. It’s nice when you leave a job and can still have contact with a person you became close with without having to call or text message them constantly. And the amount of control you have is great. There all kinds of settings for how you want your Facebook to operate and I think nowadays, a lot of people don’t take advantage of those so they end up hating it. I have mine set to Private and only Friends can see what I post; not friends of friends and the general public can only see a very basic profile from the outside. There is also that wonderful block button and unfriend/unfollow button whenever you need it. Same goes for Twitter essentially and I love Twitter because who’d ever thought they’d have the ability to speak to their favorite authors or celebrities without writing a letter and pray it gets answered?? I mean that’s just the coolest thing ever.

Learning

Lastly, at least for today, the third thing I love about social media kind of ties with the diversity aspect. I learn a lot each day. For example, last night I watched a cooking video and literally after work went grocery shopping for all the ingredients, went home and proceeded to cook it. Turned out to be a huge success that my husband praised me for and I just felt really great because it was social media that encouraged me to do that. You also learn other cool things like household cleaning hacks, upcoming book and movie releases and even the news. For someone who’s “cut the cord” long before cutting the cord was even a thing, social media is a huge resource in keeping me in the know about what’s going on in the world without having to visit a million news sites. YouTube is especially helpful in DIY videos that help you save money or for me right now, prenatal exercises without having to go out to a gym and paying someone to guide me in these (I’m so cheap).

These are the three big ones for me. I could go on but I don’t want to subject you to reading a super long blog post. How about you? How do you feel about social media? Do you agree with my reasons? Disagree? Have any additional reasons you’d like to add? Let me know in the comments below!

Facebook Friday 3/30/18

Hey, hey it’s Facebook Friday!

It’s also Good Friday. That has something to do with Christianity I think but I couldn’t tell you for sure. For me it means I still work but only for half of the day which is nice. I’m hoping to do some more spring cleaning this weekend in preparation for our big flooring project. We were finally able to get the materials purchased and my carpet loving husband decided luxury vinyl plank all over was more economical and cleaner in the long run than carpet (which is what I wanted in the first place so hooray!). I’m also hoping to get back into some reading cause it’s been a couple weeks but I’m super excited for Sunday cause I’ll be meeting up with a fellow blogger again and you all will be able to get a real post out of us this time; pictures included. So stay tuned for that on Monday.

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

Let’s dive right in. As usual, I didn’t share a meme but I did share a tweet that I completely agreed with about author/reader interaction:

Capture

I don’t retweet often but when I read this, it resonated.

Next, I did share a video on Facebook! It’s about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen but I’m a sucker for cute things so I’m sure I’ll say this again in some other post as well:

โค โค โค

Lastly, I did share a photo. I made brinner which is breakfast food for dinner and it consisted of pancakes. I’ve made pancakes plenty of times before. That’s no secret but I decided to try the Ultimate Pancake recipe on the back of the Bisquick box and these pancakes came out looking like restaurant quality style. I was so proud of myself that I shared a picture declaring that they were the most perfect pancakes I’d ever made:

And that’s it! Did you see or share anything interesting in your social medias this week? Do you have Good Friday plans? Let me know in the comments below and have a good a great weekend everyone!

See you Monday. ๐Ÿ™‚

Facebook Friday 3/16/18

Hey, hey! It’s Facebook Friday!

Man did I have a busy week! I have not read a book in a little over a week sadly (not including a certain ARC). Something about Spring being possibly on the horizon that gets you up and doing all kinds of projects. Our latest one is remodeling all the floors in the downstairs of our house before the baby gets here. We’ve had so many free estimate visitations and gone to so many stores but we may have finally settled on the place to get materials and the actual contractor who will do the work. Cross your fingers!

Surprisingly, I did share a bit on social media. Actually surprised myself cause I don’t remember sharing anything until I went back and look. So let’s get the fun stuff started eh??

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

I actually shared two memes! Both of them occurred on Twitter and it’s really easy to hit that retweet button even when you’re on the go. These memes got me all nostalgic about when I’ll be able to dive good into my reading again:

Now if you’ve seen the television show “Community” you’d understand this parody chalkboard message. If you haven’t, well, Google the phrase “treat yo ‘self” and introduce yourself to hilariousness.

Here’s the second meme:

If you didn’t know, now you do! I don’t know about you all but I use a lot of these sayings so thank you Shakespeare!

Next, I shared a video on Facebook that is so adorable to me. The guy in this video is the dog’s owner but he had a long stint in the hospital and lost 50 pounds so his dog doesn’t even recognize him and is nervous because he believes he’s approaching a stranger. What happens after is just aaaaaaaaah! I love these kinds of videos. Please give it a watch. I promise you’ll smile by the end <3:

Lastly, I shared a picture of some spur of the moment guacamole I made. A friend of mine wanted to get rid of her mortar and pestle and I’ve always wanted one so we met up and she gave me the one in the picture and I got really excited and went out and bought avocados so I can whip up some quick guac. I looooove guac and literally ate this batch which was two big avocados in two days:

And that’s it! Tomorrow is Saint Patrick’s Day which is an excuse to drink a lot for most people. If you decide to partake in green, alcoholic festivities, take a sip (or two) for me and avoid the green noodles! (Noodles should never be green. EVER!)

Have a great weekend everyone. See you Monday!
