Rumis #1

My post is so late! Aaaaah! Forgive me!

I have a feeling there will be a lot of these posts where I start to want to talk about something and then think of something else that would make a better post but it’s a jumbled assortment of thoughts. We’ll call this series, that will be as random as my mind, rumis as in ruminations of Nel.[...]

Tales of an Insect

***Warning! This story contains cursing because I curse a lot in real life especially when unexpected things I’m not prepared for occur***

I’m traumatized.

No, seriously. I try to be a good girl and eat my serving of dark leafy greens but CLEARLY, there’s a reason I’m carnivorous and here’s the story detailing why:[...]

Food Discovery

I was searching RT for a post I made a while ago about types of food that we eat together that some may find weird. However, there are 241 posts on this blog and searching for the word “food” brought up a ton of posts including every Endangered post I’ve written (which are just not related to human food). So failing that, I just decided to start the post anyway. If you go searching for it, and find it, you’re a rock star![...]

Fall

For once I’m writing a post in advanced! I felt like I should get it down today because I’ll most likely forget what I wanted to say by morning.

So it’s fall in the northern hemisphere. Also known as Autumn depending on who you ask. That means several things:

  • Trees shedding leaves
  • Pumpkin everything
  • Cooler weather

Going in that order, first, I hate that the trees shed their leaves. I LOVE the color changes. They are very beautiful but I HATE raking. When you switch from living in an apartment, where you weren’t responsible for yard work, to living in a house with FOUR (kill me) ginormous oaks and whatever that tree is that drops the helicopter seeds, you truly begin to hate Fall. We’ll have dead leaves in our yard from now until Spring, no joke. All the trees (of course) are not on the same nature clock and drop their leaves at all different times. (That would make our life way too easy eh?)[...]

Lazy Day

Yesterday I had a lazy blog day. Well the day before was sort of lazy blog day too. Anyway, I’ve been quite exhausted lately because late last week and early this week has been all about carpet cleaning at my workplace. This meant that everything that could come off the floor without breaking backs, came off the floor. The primary ingredient for the products that are made here is graphite. This place has been in business since 1971 so you can imagine how much graphite was on absolutely everything; layers upon layers upon layers.[...]

Tough Talks

I am of a personality that can be very blunt at times especially when it comes to certain conversations. I was speaking with a friend yesterday who was telling about her work day and she mentioned that someone she works with has a hygiene problem to the point where it’s a bit distracting to everyone else who works with this individual. So I asked her if she told said individual that they stink. She told me that she did not tell them directly but told their supervisor in the hopes that he/she would tell the individual. My response was she’s lucky I don’t work there.[...]

Odds in My Favor

I may have mentioned this before in one of the many tags that I’ve done but for those who are fairly new to the blog, I’m a major tech nerd. My favorite operating systems to play with are Microsoft based software and Android operating systems. I make it a point to keep up with any and all tech news surrounding these two players.[...]

Keeping up with the Characters

Recently I examined my reading habits as of late. I realized that I gravitate towards series and not only just series, but series with recurring characters. Normally, you find this trait in a lot of fantasy, urban fantasy, science fiction and paranormal books. Then you have mystery, thriller and contemporary genres that have characters in the same world but not necessarily recurring. My current read is actually a crime, romantic suspense drama that features recurring characters for a whopping 11 books so far and it got me thinking. I had to do a lot of research to find this series and a couple of others that made the list but why is it that I feel I need recurring characters in order to hold my interest in a series?[...]

Facebook Friday 9/8/17

Hey, Hey! It’s Facebook Friday!!

Facebook Fridays is a weekly segment of RT where I share some fun stuff I observed on Facebook this past week. I share a fun meme or screenshot, a video that resonated in some capacity and a photo of my own.

This week was a bit of a doozy. Since Labor Day was Monday, I had an extended weekend but it still felt like the longest week ever even though it was shortened. Of course I looked to Facebook for some fun and inspirational things to see out in the world wild web.[...]
