Test of Time

I have to confess. When I saw the word “evanescent” I immediately thought of the band Evanescence. Am I the only one?

This word has a cool meaning and pairs perfectly with my post from this morning. Check it out if you haven’t.

John, from this morning, had a show and tell story for me a couple of weeks ago. I forget how the conversation started but he ended up telling me about the tree that grew through the car. I looked at him like he was crazy. What do you mean a tree that grew through a car??? He was like, “Take a walk with me. Let me show you” So we make our way to the back of the plant and out the door and he wasn’t kidding:

Of course I needed the whole story after that! 20 years ago, the owner decided he wanted this car. I don’t know cars but it says Continental on it so he wanted a Continental. The problem is, it was all the way in Arizona. So he sent someone to drive cross country to pick this car up and drive it back to Ohio. The car gets here, and it needs a new exhaust. He paid for the exhaust to get fixed and it hasn’t left this driveway since! I don’t know if he just lost interest or what.

I asked John how this tree came to be! He said one of the “doodlies” must have planted itself and over twenty years it just grew. Doodlies are what us young people call helicopters. They look like little seed pods with wings basically and when they fall off the tree they float down like helicopter blades whirring. The tree literally came out of nowhere and did not let this car deter it! It just goes to show you how nature was here before us and can easily take the land back if we let it. You can tell this tree figure out how to grow through this car to the point that it’s actually lifting it off the ground:

Now the owners are contemplating donating this old car and John and I are making it known that this tree, this strong, little tree, has to be saved! If anyone wants this car, they’ll be taking it without the bumper cause this tree is staying.

  1. I love trees!! Tree must stay!! 😀😀 🌳
    Sweet post!!
So finally I am getting comment section. But still, no comment section in reader… 😮

    • I’m glad. I think it’s a WordPress glitch or something because now none of my comments are showing up on other people’s posts! I hope this fixes itself. It’s so frustrating 🙁

      • Well that’s real frustrating!! I think you should send a mail to wordpress authority if this problem persists. We must interact with other readers always. So comment is indispensable item.

          • Well I was scanning through all the posts in my reader section… It seems many of them has got the issue of comment section disappearing. This is the first time I am seeing this. I am going to research further in this problem.
Do ping me if you find any solution yourself!! Thanks!!

  2. Yess, they can take the car but the tree must stay! Such resilience, nature really is something! This is perhaps why nature is said to reflect God as a Creator.
    Lovely post!

      • This tree reminded me of a palm tree I saw once here. It survived the 2005 Tsunami. It’s bent in the middle and then grows straight again. Like, how do we have such a weak will to live as humans!?
